My Mother passed away 1 week ago today, so I thought this would be a good day for it.
I was going to send off an order anyway, but for some reason, doing it today seemed like a positive and cheerful thing to do. It’s not that I particularly think of my Mother when planting a tree (although I will this time) but I do know that the work of planting and caring for them will help with all the stress that comes with losing someone you love. Physical labor has a way of taking care of quite a few problems.
So, today I ordered trees.. and all the time, God is good.
Oh, I am so sorry! I understand the heavy loss of losing your Mom. My own sweet mother has been gone now for 15 years, but it seems like yesterday. My Daddy died just months before her. HUGS! My friend!!!
Thank you. I think I will think of her especially when I plant the apricot trees. She used to pack us kids up and away we would go to pick apricots for jam. Fun memories. 😊
One of my yearly spring traditions is to go and plant Petunias at my Mom’s gravesite. Which brings a smile as I clear the small copper sundial behind it. It marks where she once went out in the midnight hour to “plant” my stepfather’s constant companion right next to him, his Maltese, Freeway.
So sorry for your loss! I love the idea of planting trees and thinking of your mom. Reminds me of “the circle of life” and how life continues. Prays and hugs to you and your family!!
Sorry to hear about your mom. It is a sad time and life is forever changed without her, but tell her stories, share your memories and let her live through you! … And your trees LOL
My heart grieves with yours. Death is an enemy, God says it is. But He also says there is coming a day when death will be placed in the coffin and will be no more. You’ve read my blogs and I’m sure you know I’ve lost my mother, my father, and our 28 year old daughter…all within several years of each other. I’d love to tell you time heals all wounds, but it doesn’t. Only God comforts and heals, but there is always a scar. And that’s a good thing. Grief is the price we pay for loving someone. Please go to http://www.griefshare.org. and click on Find A Group. You will find a GriefShare Support Group near you. It helped me so much. And yes, I plant trees and flowers in memory of people too. What better way to keep them alive and near you.
