Even the doggie knows….

Nothing is more sickening than this sight.   The sight of the tank running over, because SOMEONE (me) left the hydrant running all night.  We do everything we can to conserve water, so ya, it’s not the end of the world, but it’s definitely a major fail.

Can I blame the hydrant?  I mean, after all, where did the water come from?  Nope, it was just an instrument.

I can only blame myself, vow to remember to write myself a reminder next time – and in the meanwhile, enjoy the sun glimmering off of the newly formed lake.  😦

Been there, done that! Several mornings started by someone finding fifty+ fat hogs splashing around belly deep in brown smelly water! That saying “as happy as a pig in slop” usually was an accurate way to describe the scene. There’s nothing like starting your day being splashed and rubbed on by wet, smelly, snorting pigs as you try to remove the manure and bedding holding the water in the pen. 😨😁

Do you think there is anybody out there who has had livestock and hasn’t ran the tank over????

Oh, I’m so sorry! But we all make mistakes, don’t beat yourself up. If it makes you feel any better, I was once taking care of a neighbor’s yard and had to water her lawn in a very dry spell. So I went over late one afternoon, set the sprinkler up, turned it on, and went back home, fulling intending to return in two hours to turn it off. Of course, I forgot until the next morning when I went over to get her newspapers and heard the sprinkler still going in her back yard…. So it’s not only you!

That does make me feel better! And you are right, we all do it. Some more often than others, lol! 😄. Thank you!

ohhhh, that’s A LOT of water coming out over night. Hey, at least you flushed everything clear? Or, um, prevented the whole thing from freezing over? Or sumthin 🙂
I did this so many times, I bought a timer which was absolutely fantastic. Just dial it to 10 minutes or so, depending on size of tank.
Great. Until the day it froze, and I turned it any way, breaking the stupid thing…

Or sumthin….Lol. I would freak out that the timer wouldn’t work, (that’s what I do with alarm clocks. NO SLEEP when I use them!) so maybe that is the answer! Thank You! 😉

I have horses -and this has happened with me watering them. That isn’t the worst I did, though. One night I was watering the indoor dogs, and left the bowl in the sink, with the plug down. An hour later, my husband found the cabinet, and floor soaked, plus it had already started dripping in the basement. Ugh!

Oh Im sorry! But I also have to laugh! I haven’t done that-yet–give me time. Sometimes we just get distracted. How many and what kind of horses?

Arabs or 1/2 arabs. We do have a Tennessee Walker and a QH and POA -also. They are my kids -I only ride Arab breeds -well at least when I was riding. Me and my horses are getting old. Let’s not forget the four ponies I got for the kids when they were babies. I love those things -but they give me the most heck.

We have a silly, large, clanky necklace we hang on the faucet. Have to take it off and put it around my neck, then turn water on. It’s a reminder…and totally works! I think I got the tip from a Cherry Hill kids DVD about horse care!
