…and I’m talking FULLFLEDGED.  When the combine pulls into the yard after the last kernel is cut, my heart always skips a beat.  Always.

We are through with milo harvest…

That means we are through with farming for the winter.

No more Dirt Road Truckers….

No more whiny Grain Cart Drivers….HA HA!  It’s a joke!!!!   Come on…..sensitive….

You will miss my awesome trick photography.

Ya,  go ahead and unhook er..

The header is unhooked -with assistance from the dog.

The combines are cleaned up :  this should be a Dirty Jobs episode.  Milo dust is. the. itchiest.

Everything is put in the shed, and Bam, that’s a wrap.

We drive off into the sunset….

I always found putting the combine away for the year to be as sad as it was satisfying.

Oh definitely. I want to be done and be home to catch up, but yet I love heading off and climbing on the combine every day.

It’s the same with the fields around us. It’s a bittersweet feeling, don’t you think? All this activity for so many months, and now there’s silence. It’s probably well thought out…. to make more time for the holiday season 😉 Thank you for sharing the pictures!

It is bittersweet. I love harvest, but we don’t get a paycheck until it’s over. I love the bustle and activity, but cherish the quiet time of winter.

Good for you! Paycheck time! And before the end of the year, which is a very good thing. We are still waiting to start the corn harvest here. December and we still haven’t even got the combine in the field.

I’m sorry! Isn’t that crazy? What is the latest date you’ve ever started?

Thanks! Although I have it pretty good around here. My better half is the one who deserves a break. I don’t know how he keeps up his pace.
