Mid September is time to drill wheat in this area.  The tractor and air seeder have been gone over and are ready to do their job.  This is the last time they will be sitting in the yard for a while.

….enjoying the cool of the morning while going over the list of where to plant what, one more time.   Field conditions, what variety to plant where and which fields to save seed from are just some of the decisions that have to be made.

Good dog.

Fortunately, there is plenty of “help” around.

The tanks are filled….

..and off we go.

We plant wheat in the fall also, of course we haven’t planted winter wheat in years. This year…Terry says he is stopping farming forever….(only time will tell on that score). At 71 I think he is really ready.

He certainly doesn’t look his age.😊. Is it hard to imagine him not farming? I like to see someone be able to be able to stop and enjoy a slower paced life…and maybe start new adventures.

It is hard, he (and I) grew up on farms. He started driving tractors and helping with the milking at age eight, by the age of 10 he had his own haying business. Just this year he said he was tired…very tired of the work.
